one-third copywriter. two-thirds digital marketer.
not a mathematician at all.
but mostly an aspiring strategic planner.
I'M CHECKA, AND I WANT TO MAKE STRATEGY-LED ADS THAT CHANGE THE WAY people think.
Even if at times that is making people happy about what they’re eating, drinking, where they’re hanging out. Or making them feel content with their immediate surroundings.
That’s cool, yet, I also like to question those things. Why do we do the things we do. I want to get down to the key insights of human nature and how as advertisers we can use that to change humans and the world for good.
I want to create work that creates conversation, within the Advertising industry and the world beyond… even if that starts with an annoying question. eg. But why?
MY VISION
I am after a junior position within a marketing department or agency to further develop my skills in digital marketing, brand development and copywriting. I am happy to do anything, yet mostly excited to become a Strategist. For now, though, I am discovering and developing my skills and knowledge as I continue a journey of finding all the parts of myself. . .
CURRENT EXPERIENCE
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT AT BIG RED COMMUNICATIONS GROUP
Reference from Bridget Cleary, CEO at Big Red,
“Francesca has worked with us for the last 3 months and had done a spectacular job. Fran is passionate about advertising and marketing, hard working, responsible, has strong attention to detail and is committed to forging a career in the industry. Fran has been especially helpful in conducting competitor research and distilling it into clear, actionable insights for our clients. Fran is a well liked and respected member of the team. Fran is committed, professional and responsible. The only reason we’re not offering Fran long term employment is because our revenue has reduced below what we expected when we employed her. Hopefully we can have her back! But until then she has my high recommendation and encouragement to do well and stay in touch.”
I have currently finished in a short-term graduate role as an Executive Assistant to Bridget Cleary, CEO at Big Red Agency. The role was offered to me following an industry event organised by RMIT for advertising graduates and has been an invaluable insight into the various roles that exist within a large advertising agency that works with blue chip clients. My role was primarily to support Bridget, so I helped organise her emails and calendar and run various errands, but I was also able to work with other departments who needed support, sit in meetings and generally do whatever was asked of me, from getting coffees to proof-reading documents and helping with events. I was also able to work with the Insights Department on preparing research materials for a major client, I am so grateful to Bridget and the Big Red team for this rare opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of the advertising world first-hand.
past Experience
RMIT - FIRST YEAR 2022
In my first year of Bachelor of Comms/Advertising, my working group was picked from our cohort to present creative ideas to the Digital Marketing agency DataSauce for their client Hairhouse. As well as the opportunity to present creatives from a brief given by The Residential Efficiency Scorecard. Which is run by the Victorian Government.
RMIT - SECOND YEAR 2023
Barry; Freelance
During my second year, I had the opportunity to create an Advertising Strategy and launch campaign for a new alcoholic beverage titled “Barry", which is owned by Football star Bailey Smith. It was part of my course but was also a competition between my cohort. And my team won! We subsequently worked with the client to create online and billboard advertisements. As well as kick start their social media strategy. This was an immense achievement for me and my team. Having designed and created a billboard at age 20, was something I’d only imagined in my dreams.
RMIT - FINAL YEAR 2024
Melbourne Food & Wine; Content Intern
In the final year of my degree, I completed two separate internships - the first as Content Intern for Melbourne Food & Wine. With the non-for-profit festival I wrote and pitched ideas for their website and social media. Working closely with Pat Nourse, Creative director, and Frank Sweet, Content Manager. I learnt all things food and wine, and creative thinking and writing, the “Melbourne Food & Wine way”. I was also invited to sit in on all the team’s marketing meetings. In which I gained insight around the importance of SEO’s, creative content and digital marketing campaigns, including EDMs.
MSI Australia; Digital Marketing Intern
My second internship involved creating a Digital Marketing campaign with MSI Australia, a women’s reproductive health company. The Campaign consisted of promoting a new ‘Green Whistle’ service for women as pain relief option for IUD insertion. I enjoyed this experience working closely with MSI’s Marketing Manager and team to help the organisation achieve their communications goals, particularly to a younger female audience.
